VOLUNTEER

Volunteer F.A.Q.

Why should I volunteer?

Volunteering for the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Columbus Marathon & 1/2 Marathon is a great way to give back to the community and support an event that has raised millions of dollars for Nationwide Children’s Hospital. All volunteers receive a long sleeve performance tee to wear during their volunteer shift, and you’ll receive tons of gratitude from our participants.

How old do I need to be to volunteer?

We welcome all volunteers ages 16 and older. For volunteers ages 12 to 16, we ask that they volunteer with a trusted adult in a 6 (or fewer) to 1 ratio.

Can I get service hours for volunteering for the race?

Yes! Please notify your captain at least one week before your volunteer shift so that we can have a service hours form ready for you the day of your activity.

What if my group would like to volunteer together?

Wonderful! All members of a group will still need to register individually, and volunteer spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis. You will want to act fast! Please send an email to volunteer@columbusmarathon.com and we will do our best to find a great volunteer opportunity for your group.

What should I wear?

Most of our volunteer opportunities happen outside on race day. Our race will be happening rain or shine, and we rely on all of our volunteers to make our event successful! Please wear comfortable shoes and dress in layers so you can respond to changing conditions. Whether you are working  outside or are volunteering indoors, you will receive long sleeve performance tee at the start of your shift to wear during your volunteer activity.

Where should I park?

Your volunteer captain will be in touch regarding parking details. With volunteers needed across all 26.2 miles of the race, the best parking options will vary depending on where you will be helping.

Can I get free or reduced race entry for volunteering?

We recognize  the hard work and time sacrifice that goes into volunteering, and wish we could  do more to repay everyone for their efforts. But as a non-profit event supporting a non-profit charity, we do not have the budget available to offer free or reduced entry.  Please know that you are appreciated, and your support allows us to do great things for Nationwide Children’s Hospital!

I don't see my question here. Who do I contact?

Please send an email to volunteer@columbusmarathon.com and we will be in touch with you!
