Each year we hold athlete exchanges with some of Columbus’ international sister cities that also have a marathon or half marathon.

The longest such exchange has been with Dresden, Germany – this is our eighth-year anniversary – and in 2015 we started exchanges with Hefei, China, and Curitiba, Brazil.

This year the Dresden Marathon and Half Marathon races are Sunday, October 27, and five “ambassadors” will travel between each city. The athletes stay with host families in each city.

We proudly introduce the 2019 Columbus ambassadors heading to Dresden:

Our exchange program also includes races in Hefei, China and Curitiba, Brazil; five athletes will travel from Columbus to take part in these events, with athletes coming to our race.

The Hefei International Marathon is Sunday, November 10, and the Maratona Curitiba takes place Sunday, November 17.

Congratulations to the 2019 Columbus ambassadors going to Hefei and Curitiba:
