Registration Up & Climbing!

Registration for the Nationwide Better Health Columbus Marathon & 1/2 Marathon already is up by double-digit percentage points compared to last year, and this month is traditionally when the applications pour in! That means we are still on track to sell out earlier than ever. We HATE to say no, but at some point we are going to have to turn people away. If you want to join us this year, register here.

Deadline To Switch Events, Corrals Fast Approaching!

Already registered for the Marathon but your training hasn't gone as planned? September 30 (or upon an event sellout) is the last chance to switch your entry from the Marathon to the 1/2 Marathon by emailing registration@columbusmarathon.com. This also is the last day you can submit a time to improve upon your corral position for either event. Please visit here for complete details on the corral system for 2010.

9/11 Run For Yourself & Others...

The Heroes For Humanity Run on Saturday, September 11, features a very unique distance - 9.11K. Because there aren't too many 10Ks or half marathons remaining before October 17, we will accept results from the Heroes For Humanity for corral placement for this year's Nationwide Better Health Columbus Marathon & 1/2 Marathon. Information is available at www.heroes4humanity.org.

Words To Run By:

"It takes discipline to run easily when you feel good on a planned recovery day. But if you train too hard on a recovery day, you will be a bit tired for your next hard day, so that workout will likely not go as well as intended. You may then decide to run a bit harder than planned on the next recovery day to 'make up for' the suboptimal hard training session. This creates a vicious cycle in which the easy days are too intense and the quality of the hard days is diminished. The result is a lack of improvement and mediocre race performances." - Pete Pfitzinger, U.S. Olympic Marathoner, from the book, "Run Strong."
