Registrations are up; are YOU in?!

In each of the last three years, the Nationwide Better Health Columbus Marathon & 1/2 Marathon events have sold out. The quality and value you receive for your entry fee certainly has contributed to this, and we are on track for this to occur again in 2010. Are you thinking about taking part in one of our races? Then what are you waiting for - sign up! Through the end of July the full marathon is very fairly priced at $65, while the 1/2 marathon will only cost $50. We¹ve got some improvements planned for our 31st year, so make sure you don't get left out on October 17! Register here!

"Run Fest” is ALMOST Here - July 10, Arena District!

Celebrate your love of fitness and kick off your training for the 2010 Nationwide
Better Health Columbus Marathon & 1/2 Marathon at “Run Fest,” a FREE, fun, no-pressure gathering to promote running, walking and a healthy lifestyle! You don’t need to be registered for the marathon or ½ marathon to attend and there will absolutely be no running involved -- just FREE food, live music, thousands of dollars worth of giveaways and running-related exhibits and activities. Did we mention it is FREE? It will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 10 at the Plaza at Nationwide Arena @ Frog Bear & Wild Boar (Click here for location/parking info). Area running stores have info cards - stop in and get yours!

Earlier in the morning Lifeline of Ohio is holding its annual 1/2 Marathon and 5K right in front of Frog Bear & Wild Boar. If you are taking part in this worthy event, bring dry clothes and stick around the Arena District for Run Fest!

Make it a full day of fitness: Head to Dublin right after Run Fest to be part of the "Mile Dash Birthday Bash" put on by Columbus Running Company!

Volunteers Needed, Wanted, Appreciated!

Columbus ranks 8th among the 51 largest cities in the country in volunteering, according to the 2010 Volunteering in America report released by the Corporation for National and Community Service. Let’s keep this trend going by volunteering to help out at the Nationwide Better Health Columbus Marathon & 1/2 Marathon! If you are planning to run with us this year we understand you can't volunteer. But how about your family, friends or co-workers?  Or perhaps you are among the hundreds of thousands of people who have participated in the past 30 years and want to give back? We'd love to see you again! Click here to register as a volunteer today!

Looking Back To Get Better...

It is said that if you don't study the past you are doomed to repeat it, but we
might not be too bad off if we repeat some of the success experienced over the years by the Nationwide Better Health Columbus Marathon & 1/2 Marathon. In reviewing results books and news clippings about the event over the past 30 years, we learned we have some pretty big shoes to fill! For example, Ohio Runner magazine stated that the marathon "will rank as one of the best in the country," and that was in an article about year 1, 1980! We've hosted the U.S. Men's National Championships, and in 1992 were the site of the Men's U.S. Olympic Trials! We've been the first 1/2 marathon and full marathon for thousands of runners and walkers, and thousands more have qualified for the Boston Marathon on our course. Yep, we've got some pressure to perform well, and are doing all we can to ensure this year again makes history!

Words To Run By...

"Mastery in running is the result of consistent physical and mental training. The effects are cumulative. Give yourself the time, however long, to come into your own. Patience, persistence and perseverence are the three virtues of extraordinary performance."

From the book, "Running Within"
